Owner/Developer
WaltDesign & Development
March 1996 – Current
I designed websites for small companies utilizing PHP, JavaScript, jQuery, CSS, and more to meet the needs of those organizations.
- Developed e-commerce site for client drives over 85% of all orders.
- Performed redesign of various web sites to improve speed and efficiency, increase Search Engine ranking, and improve usability.
- Redesigns for speed improvements usually saw the client getting 30-66% reduction in load times, and reducing bandwidth fees, while increasing the usage of the site.
- Developed multiple e-commerce sites, using databases, shopping carts, administrative features, on-line checkout, and merchandise display.
- Performed usability testing and implemented current practices within websites to improve their performance.
I’ve developed custom databases using MySQL, MS Access, and SQL Server for clients. Some of these databases were standalone, or desktop driven, others were integrated into websites. Examples of work include:
- Developed a quote generation software for electricians.
- Developed a grade management system for college instructors.
- Designed an order tracking database for display case manufacturer.
- Show and order tracking for a home-show sales company.
I’ve used WordPress to develop sites which the owners of the organizations can use to update their own site’s content. I’ve developed original custom themes, modified themes, created custom post types, and more.
Software Developer III
Superion, LLC (Formerly SunGard Public Sector)
2007 – 2019
Actively manage and create custom solutions for over 20 websites using JavaScript, jQuery, CSS, ASP.Net/C#, PHP, SQL, Bootstrap, WordPress, and more.
I worked with the Customer Support team to help customize their MS Dynamics CRM tool. We used JavaScript to enhance the front end capabilities, supporting 700 users, over 1,500 accounts, and 54,000 active contacts. Developed back-end plugins in C#, and developed console apps to interact with it.
Managed Customer Portal which allowed customers to enter & look up cases, and other customer centric data.
Managed the Coveo Enterprise Search application, which searched over 20 data sources, and tracked over 300GB of data.
Maintained a Learning Management System (LMS) with 58,000+ student accounts, 5,200+ courses, and offering 7,000 unique training events every year.
Developed a custom email lead generation tool, which is responsible for approximately 40% of all visits to the site. This tool analyzes a student’s transcript to recommend relevant classes to the student. By focusing on relevance for the student, we manage an unsubscribe/bounce rate of <.3%.
Provide custom web development to enhance the capabilities of the LMS. Including custom search engine, real time charts, and custom reports for end users. Used ASP, JavaScript, jQuery, jQuery UI, and PHP to enhance the website.
Developed custom courses for both employees and customers (revenue generating). Topics included Introduction to Web Design, Improving Web Site Performance, Web Site Analytics, Using Social Media, Microsoft Access, and more.
Developed custom websites for sales, marketing, and HR teams.
Developed custom WordPress sites to allow non-technical people the ability to update/upload them. Including a site for an Employee Conference, Employee Newsletter, and Customer Newsletter.
